They make it Special

Why is a Wayfaring Walk the perfect slow travel vacation? It’s all down to our secret ingredient – our experienced and knowledgeable Walk Leaders and Managers!

They really are the best in the business. Our Walk Leaders know the stuff the guidebooks don’t.

From the best places to get traditional Sicilian ice cream in downtown Siracusa to where we will spot guanacos in the wilds of Patagonia – just ask.

They can identify alpine herbs and tell you which rare liqueurs they flavor – and raise a glass with you in the evening as you relax and discuss the day’s walking. They have a few on-the-trail surprises up their sleeves too!

Team Work

Meanwhile, our ever-resourceful Walk Managers take care of the logistics. They transport your luggage, meet you on the trail with delicious picnics and appetizing snacks and go on ahead to order lunches and ensure a welcoming reception at your hotel.

Our teams know the country and the ways of the people who live there. They are founts of knowledge, full of fascinating facts and stories about the local history, culture and wildlife.

Oh, and they’re entertaining and congenial company too! Caring, fun and charismatic, our Walk Leaders and Managers are drawn from a huge variety of backgrounds. Over the years they have included retired colonels, farmers, professors and even an ambassador.

Guests comment...

“Probably one of the top vacations we’ve done! The Walking trip was pretty incredible, with a very very knowledgeable Leader and Manager. Numerous interesting talks about the area, the fauna, flora etc. One really great boat ride to a number of islands, all known for their rare and extensive bird populations, including puffins! It by far exceeded our expectations!”

“You must work so hard getting the fantastic staff who researches every trip, and make every guest feel so special. They all seem to love their job.”

“I loved meeting and interacting with the other travelers and the crew. The lectures, which I was not expecting, were a nice touch! Had we tried to do this on our own, we would have missed so much of the history and lore.”

“Walk Leader: Great interpersonal skills, excellent knowledge of area and culture, great sense of humor. Manager: excellent organizational skills, very efficient, very eager to please.”

“The skill and professionalism of the Walk Leader and Manager, and their knowledge of location made this walk special.”

“Really interesting, highly competent, engaged people. Top drawer.”
