Rich in ancient history and untouched beauty, from the towering Doric temple of Segesta to the Greek ruins of Selinunte, we’ll feel the weight of centuries of civilization beneath the blue Sicilian sky. As we hike through Lo Zingaro and Monte Cofano nature reserves, we’ll be surrounded by dramatic mountain views, lush wildflower fields, and the gentle flutter of butterflies along the trails.
We’ll also dive into Sicily’s ancient salt industry with a visit to the Trapani salt pans, where windmills and sparkling salt lagoons have stood for centuries. And as we follow in the footsteps of the Phoenicians, we’ll take a boat ride to the charming island of Mozia, rich in archaeological treasures.
No trip to Sicily would be complete without indulging in the island’s world-class wine. We’ll visit the Florio winery in Marsala for a tasting of the region’s famous dark, sweet, wine.

Scopello, La Tavernetta
This morning follow the coastal path of the peaceful Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve, where wildflowers abound and the only sounds are the clang of goats’ bells and the waves breaking on the shore. In the afternoon, we follow a different route back to San Vito lo Capo.

Transfer to the Nature Reserve Park of Monte Cofano where we explore and immerse ourselves in the wild and rugged beauty of this unspoiled coastline. After lunch, we’ll switch gears with a walking tour of Erice, a medieval walled mountain town, perched almost 2,500 feet above the sea and one of the most stunning villages on the Mediterranean.
Marsala, Baglio Oneto
Walk along the lagoons and salt pans of Trapani, still guarded by old windmills, then board the ferry to the Isle of Mozia, to visit its ancient Phoenician settlement. In the tiny museum, we see the magnificent 5th-century marble sculpture of Il Giovinetto. Return to the mainland to visit the renowned Florio winery before dinner.
Marsala, Baglio Oneto
Today we visit Segesta, to see the great Doric temple and theater dating from the 3rd century BC, two of the most stunning classical monuments in the world. We’ll enjoy an organic lunch at an ‘agriturismo’ farmhouse.
Menfi, Planeta Estate La Foresteria
On our final full day, start with a memorable walk in the countryside, through olive groves and vineyards, then along the beaches with beautiful views of the Mediterranean. In the afternoon, the group reunites for a guided tour of the enormous ruins of the temples at Selinunte. We’ll have a special gourmet Farewell Dinner at our hotel.

The walk was as described in every way. I also loved the unrushed vibe of this trip. We never felt hurried and always had time to relax before dinner. The scenery was breathtaking, the hotels beyond my expectations, and the food never disappointed. Ron and Alessandro went above and beyond to make the trip pleasurable. My only regret was that it was too short!
Alessandro was fantastic. Our second walk with him and we really enjoyed his passion for history, food and wine end culture of the area. Great knowledge and lots of fun. Like walking with a good friend! Ron is amazing! He always had every detail the trip buttoned up. Always prepared. Always organized. Always felt he was sincerely concerned about us.
What I most enjoyed about this walk was that Ron and Paulo intertwined the history and the culture of the area with the actual walking.
