Last call for fall in England and Ireland!

Four ways to fall for Britain and Ireland

There’s still time to make a fall escape. A few places remain on selected September and October walking vacations in England and Ireland – an opportunity to experience the countryside at a quieter, more atmospheric time of year, when summer crowds have thinned and the landscape begins to take on its autumn color.

In England, country lanes lead to honey-stone villages, historic towns and welcoming country inns, while in Ireland, green hills, rugged coastlines and centuries-old villages provide a wonderfully scenic backdrop for walking.

Cooler days, comfortable walking

Cooler days make for comfortable hiking, and the changing season brings a new character to landscapes that are beautiful in every season but somehow feel especially inviting in the fall.

So, if England or Ireland has been calling, there are still a few places available this year. Contact us now to secure your booking.

Northern Ireland – wild at heart
Come for the dramatic coast, stay for the stories. Fall brings a moody beauty to Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast, from the extraordinary Giant’s Causeway and rugged cliffs to the quiet shores of tiny Rathlin Island. With fewer visitors, there’s more room to take in the scenery – and to linger over a pint of the black stuff, a good meal and a warm welcome.

Galway and Connemara – Atlantic magic
On Ireland’s western edge, Connemara is made for walking when summer fades. Think wide Atlantic skies, peat bogs, rugged mountains, quiet lanes and coastal paths, with the Twelve Bens rising in the misty distance. Add an island escape to the “floating isle” of Inishbofin, deeply tied to mysticism, rich folklore, and old legends. This is fall walking at its most atmospheric.

And why not take these island of Ireland adventures together, for a truly immersive Irish experience?

And in England…

South Downs Way –  quintessential England
Rolling chalk hills, ancient woodland, picture-perfect villages and country pubs. Although not so far from the bustle of London, the South Downs is about as quintessentially English as it gets. Fall adds a golden glow to the landscape, while the cooler days are ideal for walking the long ridges and exploring historic places such as Winchester and Arundel. As we walk, we get the strong sense of history, treading the same paths used by Iron Age settlers, Roman legions, and medieval traders

The Thames River – a gentle fall idyll
Follow the upper Thames through some of England’s most beautiful countryside, where meadows, woodland and honey-colored villages line the river. From the Cotswolds to Oxford and Henley-on-Thames, this is easy-going walking with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery – and perhaps a riverside pub or two! In fall, the Thames feels particularly peaceful, as though these quiet corners of England have finally exhaled after a long, hot summer.
