Are you ready to join our “big sky” Walks and embark on a journey to the ends of the earth? Let Patagonia reveal its wild grandeur as we explore Argentina and Chile together in early 2025.
Imagine the remoteness and romance of the widest of wide-open spaces, and a profound silence seldom experienced in our busy everyday lives.
Patagonia, South America’s southernmost tip, is a truly extraordinary and stunning destination. It’s undoubtedly a contender for the most beautiful place on Earth.
Travel to the end of the earth. Experience the sound of silence across hundreds of miles of Argentina’s far south. Or come face to face with a moving, almost living, glacier. These are experiences that will never be forgotten.
Our Walk in Patagonia takes us deep into landscapes that are beautiful and unspoiled where nature has free rein. This surely is one of the most extraordinary places in the world.
Where else could we experience the thrill of cruising to the base of the mighty Perito Moreno glacier in Los Glaciares National Park, where massive chunks of ice break off and thunder into the water.
We get to stay in a luxury eco-dome camp. Enjoy a horseback ride. Savor a delicious Patagonian barbecue and get to know gaucho life up close. Taste the region’s famous wines!
Traveling through mile upon mile of desert, we take to the trail amid lovely forests to reach the famous Cerro Torre Viewpoint. In the distance we can admire the granite towers of Torre and Fitz Roy and all their snow-capped satellite mountains.
Walk or horseback-ride to the famous Blue Lagoon. We’ll catch our breath at our first glimpse of its stunning, bright azure blue. Take time for reflection in the absolute silence here. It’s only interrupted by the sounds of distant small avalanches that take place from the summits falling to the glacier.
Accompanying us each day, the rich array of wildlife from condors wheeling overhead, Magellan woodpeckers, flamingos, native guanacos, the camel’s gaucho cousins and maybe even a sleek puma keeping a watchful eye on us!
Seeking a destination that’s truly off the beaten path? Then the glaciers, fjords and lakes of the extraordinary land that is Chilean Patagonia tick every box. It’s as close to a heaven on earth as we can imagine.
Amid the foothills at the southern tip of the Chilean Andes, we’ll be walking through the iconic Torres del Paine National Park. Here, nature’s grandeur unfolds. Think towering mountains, ancient forests, cascading waterfalls, fjords, pristine turquoise lakes, and mighty glaciers. All this set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Southern Ice Fields.
Torres del Paine is not just a national park. It’s a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and has been hailed as the Eighth Wonder of the World for good reason.
Grey Glacier is one of its most striking natural wonders. A colossal river of ice that flows down from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Spanning almost four miles in width, it’s a stunning sight to behold. Those towering blue ice walls that seem to glow in the sunlight.
Salto Grande Waterfall is a dramatic, thundering cascade plunging from the turquoise waters of Lake Nordenskjöld into the rugged landscape below. Not just a beautiful sight, but also a symbol of the raw and untamed energy that defines this part of the world.
The jagged silhouettes of Los Cuernos del Paine, or “The Horns of Paine”, are known for their striking contrast of dark sedimentary rock peaks capped with bright granite. They are particularly stunning at sunrise and sunset when the changing light bathes the peaks in hues of pink, orange, and gold.
Our “slow travel” philosophy of small groups, expert Walk Leaders and Managers, and thoughtfully selected accommodations with every detail taken care of, is the perfect way to immerse ourselves in these vast, faraway territories and thrilling new landscapes.
